Accommodation details
International students concerned about finding suitable accommodation in Singapore may stay with CSMD officially-appointed hostels for the first three to six months as they get acquainted with Singapore. The student services manager will also assist students who prefer alternative accommodation in public estates (HDB) or private estates (condominiums and apartments). The standard of living in Singapore is relatively higher than most Asian countries but compared to most western countries, the cost of living here is relatively low, and basic items like food and clothing are very reasonably priced. Students planning their budget will need to cater for these items: Accommodation, Utilities, Food, Transport, Clothing, Telecommunications, Books and Stationery, Medical/Hospitalization, Insurance, Personal Expenses. An international student in Singapore spends on average about S$750 to S$2,000 a month on living expenses. This amount of course, varies depending on their individual lifestyle and course of study. These estimated cost ranges in the Table below gives a rough guide of the basic expenditure an international student may incur per month.
